WHAT HAPPENED
Our under-23s sealed a late comeback as they fought back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw with Derby County at Pride Park.
Mazeed Ogungbo made his first ever start at under-23 level, filling in for the injured Tolaji Bola, while Tyreece John-Jules was tasked with leading the line, one week on from that stunning backheel volley at Emirates Stadium.
It was a quiet first half with little to separate the two sides, but on the stroke of half-time, Derby County took the lead through Chris Martin, who fired a free-kick over the wall and into the top corner from just outside the area.
This sparked a reaction from our youngsters, as they went on to dominate the opening exchanges of the second half. First, Emile Smith Rowe’s low drive was blocked at the end of a sweeping counter-attack, before Trae Coyle came within an inch of scoring a goal of the season contender from 25 yards.
Things went from bad to worse when the Rams doubled their advantage on the hour mark through Alex Babos - but less than 10 minutes later we pulled one back, as Robbie Burton curled the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
Miguel Azeez and Folarin Balogun then went on to make an instant impact off the bench, with the latter pouncing on an underhit backpass to score his fourth goal of the season - and secure a valuable point on the road.
