A young Arsenal team earned a creditable draw at Prenton Park to keep up the pressure on Leicester City.
And it was a last gasp effort from 16 year-old Folarin Balogun that secured the point, pouncing on a loose ball in the 90th minute after Jordi Osei-Tutu’s shot had been saved by Caoimhin Kelleher.
The first half was a goalless affair, though Liverpool had the best chance through Yan Dhanda who fired just over. The young Gunners finished the half strongly though with another first year scholar, Xavier Amaechi thwarted by ‘keeper Kelleher.
Dhanda spurned an early chance for the home team early in the second half but he was instrumental in Liverpool taking the lead on 63 minutes, threading a ball through to Tony Gallacher who shot beyond Joao Virginia into the top corner.
Kelleher then made a super stop from Josh Dasilva as it looked like the home side were going to take all three points but he was powerless to prevent Balogun’s crucial leveler for in the dying moments.
