WHAT HAPPENED
Charles Sagoe Jr made his debut for our under-18s on Tuesday as we were held to a 0-0 draw by Aston Villa at Bodymoor Heath training centre.
Ken Gillard opted for three changes from our previous outing, with Ovie Ejeheri, Taylor Foran and Joel Ideho all returning to the starting XI.
The latter started brightly too, kickstarting a move from deep before picking out Omari Hutchinson, who saw his low effort kept out by the feet of Filip Marshall.
Villa’s Paul Appiah then sent a header over the bar from an inviting corner delivery, before Sebastian Revan sent a curling effort just wide of the far post.
Following the restart, Billy Vigar was introduced off the bench and came close to making an instant impact, racing behind Villa’s defence and forcing Marshall into a save.
Hutchinson, who remained a bright spark all afternoon, then went on to cut inside from the right and bend the ball just wide of the bottom corner.
We had one last chance to secure all three points when Hutchinson fizzed a free-kick across the face of goal, but Foran failed to make contact, before Henry Jeffcott was denied by the post on the rebound.
