WHAT HAPPENED

We sealed a dominant 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Bodymoor Heath on Saturday thanks to goals from Sam Greenwood and Ben Cotrell.

We fired four past the Villans on the opening day of the season, and once again, we started in similar attacking fashion.

Following a flowing move from back to front, Greenwood received the ball on the edge of the box and beat his marker, before firing a powerful left-footed effort into the top corner.

The 17-year-old has now scored six goals in 12 league appearances this season.

Shortly after, however, Arthur Okonkwo was called into action following a spell of possession for the hosts. First, a fine diving save to deny Indiana Vassilev from close range, before claiming Colin Odutayo’s low drive.

We had a golden opportunity to double our advantage before the break when Zak Swanson was brought down inside the penalty area - but the full back was unable to convert from 12 yards.

Ken Gillard’s side showed great maturity to control the game in the second half - and in the 63rd minute Cottrell capped off his lively performance with a goal.

The 17-year-old charged at the Villa defence following a defensive error, and fired past Akos Onodi to seal all three points.

WHAT IT MEANS

We’re second in the U-18 Premier League on 33 points.
