WHAT HAPPENED
Kwame Ampadu’s side made it two wins from two in the U-18 Premier League after defeating Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
We wasted no time in stamping our authority on the game when Jordan McEneff picked out Yunus Musah inside the box, who rattled the crossbar with a fierce left-footed strike.
Soon, with a single long ball, Brighton forward Jayden Onan found himself through on goal, forcing Arthur Okonkwo into a low save down to his right.
Shortly after, Flo Balogun was denied from close range, before Tyreece John-Jules’ goalbound effort was deflected behind for a corner.
On the stroke of half-time we managed to break the deadlock. McEneff played a delicate pass into the feet of Balogun, who rolled his marker and struck the post, forcing Haydon Roberts to inadvertently bundle the ball into his own net.
Balogun continued to threaten after the break and soon found himself one on one against Roco, but the Brighton shotstopper was quick off his line to prevent us from doubling our lead.
However, Balogun’s head didn’t drop and with just a few minutes remaining on the clock, he latched on to a long ball and forced Mathhew Weaire into a foul inside the 18-yard box. Captain Matthew Smith took the responsibility to seal all three points and he made no mistake from the penalty spot.
