Arsenal in the Community

Arsenal Double Club Languages

Arsenal Double Club expanded to include modern languages in 2006, following its removal as a compulsory subject at GCSE.

Arsenal-themed learning materials, developed in collaboration with specialist language partners, use football as a way to motivate primary and secondary school pupils to learn French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.

Learning materials include pupil workbooks that support the topics covered in the national curriculum, a coaching guide that provides a range of football sessions that incorporate the target language, and exclusive footage of Arsenal players speaking in their mother tongue.

At the end of the programme, all participating schools have the option to bring their groups to for a Double Club ‘Language Day’, which includes a language-themed tour of the Emirates Stadium, museum visit and language activities.
