We deliver weekly sessions delivered in the local community to promote adult health, wellbeing and a sense of being connected to their community.
At Arsenal in the Community we include health and wellbeing elements across all of our provision, from our schools programmes to our older adults’ activities such as Arsenal Bowls.
We also have some specific health and wellbeing initiatives such as our walking football sessions, our Active Spaces partnership with Islington Council and our involvement in the national Daily Mile scheme.
The focus in this area is to help tackle health inequalities in our local communities by providing meaningful interventions, ongoing sessions and wellbeing support that meets local needs.
By connecting more closely with local government, NHS departments and Public Health, we are looking to further develop our health and wellbeing offering in the coming months and years. We are currently developing projects that include weight management for men, exercise options for various ages and specialist activities for those with long-term health conditions.
Our projects include…
Strength & Balance
A chair-based exercise programme for over-55s living in Islington.
Total Body Workout
These traditional exercise classes make use of resistance bands, slam balls, exercise mats and your own body weight to provide a “total body workout”.
Family Fitness
These sessions are aimed at families who need support in terms of cooking and physical activity education.
Walking Football
Walking football sessions are aimed at over-50s or those with limiting health conditions that do not allow them to play the full game of football.
Shape Up
Shape Up is 12-week weight-management programme specifically designed for men.
