Raya nominated for PL Save of the Month

David Raya

David Raya’s incredible reaction save in the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur has been nominated for September’s Premier League Save of the Month.

Our Spanish international shot-stopper has been named on a six-keeper shortlist for the monthly prize after he produced heroics against our arch-rivals at Emirates Stadium during our 2-2 draw.

David’s big moment came in the 38th minute of the contest when Spurs sprang a counter-attack and Dejan Kulusevski found the overlapping Son Heung-min, who pulled the ball back to Brennan Johnson 10 yards out.

It seemed destined that the Welshman would score his first goal for the club when he took aim first time with our custodian still close to his near post, however David displayed brilliant speed and agility to race across his line to somehow claw the ball away from danger.

He is up against Everton’s Jordan Pickford for his late denial of Sheffield United’s Oli McBurnie, Spurs’ Guglielmo Vicario's acrobatics against Burnley, Ederson of Manchester City in their win over West Ham United, new Chelsea stopper Robert Sanchez thwarting Aston Villa and Allison preventing Son from netting in the controversial Tottenham v Liverpool encounter.

See all these saves again and opt for your best now, with voting ending on Monday, October 9.

You can choose Mikel Arteta as September's Premier League Manager of the Month, and Leandro Trossard is up for Goal of the Month.
