Trossard a contender for PL Goal of the Month

Leandro Trossard celebrates beating Everton

Leandro Trossard’s excellent finish against Everton has been included on the shortlist for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month for September.

The Belgian forward produced a strike out of the top drawer to see us clinch all three points at Goodison Park for the first time since 2017 in our 1-0 success, and the quality of his effort has been recognised by the division who have included as an option for supporters to select as their favourite netbuster.

The moment arrived in the 69th minute of the contest on Merseyside when a short corner routine involving Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko opened up the home defence.

That allowed Bukayo to sneak into the box and pick out Leandro, who produced a brilliant first-time shot that caught Jordan Pickford by surprise as it arced into the net via a post to ultimately claim all three points.

Leandro is up against seven other players for September’s prize, including Manchester United duo Hannibal Mejbri and Bruno Fernandes for their strikes against Brighton and Burnley respectively.

Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran’s volley against Crystal Palace is also recognised, while the Eagles’ Joachim Andersen’s powerful winner at Old Trafford gets a nod. Julian Alvarez’s free-kick in Manchester City’s defeat to Wolves, Miguel Almiron’s dipping strike for Newcastle United against Burnley, and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s curler to earn Nottingham Forest a point against the Clarets are the other options.

Take a look at all of the goals again and select your favourite now, with the poll closing at midday UK time on Monday, October 9.

You can also vote for Mikel Arteta to be Manager of the Month, or check out our other best strikes from the month by selecting our club Goal of the Month.
