Alessia Russo has won the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month award for April.
Scoring in every WSL match she played in during April, Russo netted four goals in three league appearances, adding to her seasonal tally, which now stands at 14, including 10 in the WSL.
Our number 23 was in fine form against Bristol City, opening her account with a beautifully struck effort on the edge of the area before placing her second goal into the bottom corner with pinpoint accuracy.
She then also netted late on in the games against Leicester City and Everton to move into double figures in the league - the only player to have hit that mark for us this term.
Beth Mead was also nominated for the award, while Russo beat Tottenham’s Bethany England, Manchester City’s Lauren Hemp, Everton’s Sara Holmsgaard and Aston Villa’s Sophia Poor to the award.
