Rice's West Ham rocket up for PL Goal of the Month

Declan Rice celebrates his goal against West Ham United

Declan Rice’s breathtaking strike against West Ham United has been selected as a contender for February’s Premier League Goal of the Month.

The England midfielder found the top corner with a superb long-ranger back on his old stomping ground of the London Stadium during our 6-0 win against the Hammers, and your votes can help it come out on top above seven other netbusters across the division.

Declan’s fourth goal in our colours since signing in the summer was certainly one to remember. The move began when Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli linked up on the right flank, and the Brazilian found Ben White who had snuck into the area.

He cut the ball back towards Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard who got in each other’s way and seemingly ended the attack, however Declan strode onto the ball and lashed it first-time past a helpless Alphonse Areola from 25 yards, with the shot arcing away from his fingertips before it rippled the back of net.

Out of the seven other nominees, two come from Crystal Palace players with Jefferson Lerma and Jordan Ayew’s blasts against Chelsea and Everton selected, while the Toffees were also on the receiving end of Richarlison’s improvised strike from the edge of the area during their 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

Kobbie Mainoo of Manchester United is also recognised for his last-gasp solo effort to beat Wolves, while Joao Pedro’s strike against Palace, Darwin Nunez’s chip in Liverpool’s win at Brentford and Emerson’s blast for West Ham against the Bees complete the shortlist.

Supporters’ votes will go some of the way to the final result, so make sure you vote for Declan now - plus you can select Bukayo Saka as Player of the Month, and Mikel Arteta as Manager of the Month.
