Theo - Every pass had to be perfection

Theo Walcott says that we had to strive for “perfection” with every pass to get a positive result on Sutton United’s artificial pitch.

We eased into the last eight of the Emirates FA Cup on Monday with a 2-0 win at Gander Green Lane, but it took us time to find our rhythm on the Gander Green Lane surface.

“The pitch we obviously had to adjust to, I’m not used to playing on pitches like that,” Theo told Arsenal Player.

“To be honest it was fairly decent. A lot of the time the ball would get away from you or get stuck under your feet when you run with it, but overall it was a good, professional performance tonight.

“Generally every single pass needs to be perfection [on that pitch], because it’ll just go. At times, in the second half especially, it was getting away from us quite a lot.

“The longer it went on, we needed to get a second goal. Thankfully we got it in the end and it’s going to be a very interesting tie in the next round [against Lincoln City] - I’m really looking forward to that.”
