‘There is no limitation to Ozil’s game’

Mesut Ozil celebrates his goal against Stoke

We have been lucky enough to see some outrageous performances from Mesut Ozil since his arrival at the club - but Arsene Wenger is still demanding more.

The World Cup winner claimed 19 assists last season, one short of equalling Thierry Henry’s Premier League record - and has already scored nine goals this term.

Wenger is pleased with Ozil’s development, but feels that a talent like him can still go to another level.

“I think what you want of him is to score goals,” the Arsenal manager said. “He is moving in the right way but always, from such a talent, you are maybe a little bit unjust because you always want more.

“You feel there is no limitation in his game and so you always say, ‘Come on, give us more' because you always have feeling he can do more.

“We are all human beings who can improve every day. I think he has a passion for the game, you do not get the technique he has just by the gift of God, you have to focus on every single pass you have made since you were a kid to get that touch, technique and vision.

“For that you need a passion for the game and he has exceptional passion. He gives you always the feeling that he can make the team improve with the quality of his passes.”
