Arsène Wenger had never been knocked out of third round of the FA Cup before Saturday, and Olivier Giroud’s late winner ensured that fine record continued for at least another year.
Preston North End had taken an early lead but, after Aaron Ramsey’s first goal of the season levelled the scored, Giroud finished Lucas’ clever backheel to secure our progression to the fourth round of the competition.
But why did we struggle in the first half? And what did we change after the break? Former Gunner Adrian Clarke answers both questions in the latest episode of The Breakdown, and also examines:
- Mustafi’s second-half influence
- Lucas’ anticipation for each goal
- Maitland-Niles’ defensive performance
