Pedro Martinez Losa says that Arsenal Ladies want to be "leaders in the women’s game”.
The Gunners made the latest in a series of major developments at the club on Tuesday, opening up a new purpose-built hub.
Arsenal have been at the forefront of the women’s game since they were founded in 1987, and Losa believes their new facilities can inspire other Women’s Super League sides to become more professional.
"We want to lead women’s football in England and we want to be in a top position in European football too"
“One of our main objectives is to progress in football and, with the tradition we have at this club, we want to be leaders going forward in the women’s game,” he told Arsenal.com.
“Having this facility is a fantastic benefit in terms of professionalism, in terms of unity and togetherness. We have full-time staff who are able to give more individualised attention to little details and this is a consequence of where the club wants to go. We are very proud of that.
“Our objective is to provide our players with the most professional environment possible. It’s not about copying anyone, it’s about creating our identity, our own way. It’s not just about investment, it’s also about efficiency and that’s what we have. We have all we need and we’re very happy.
“We want to lead women’s football in England and we want to be in a top position in European football too. The tour in Spain had a lot of benefits for us on and off the pitch. We played against Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich and competed at a fantastic level.
“That’s helped the players’ mentality, their belief, and has shown us the way we want to play. This has helped the players believe that Arsenal want to lead women’s football by being in the top position in all competitions.”
The new facility is part of a wider re-development of the Arsenal Training Centre. Click HERE for more details.
