Scott on Losa, new signings and 2015

Alex Scott

Alex Scott has hailed Arsenal Ladies manager Pedro Martinez Losa ahead of the 2015 Women’s Super League season.

Losa joined the Gunners in August and guided them to a fourth-place finish in the WSL, as well as leading them to the Continental Cup final.

This will be the Spaniard’s first full season in charge and Scott is looking forward to seeing how Arsenal progress with five new signings, starting with Sunday’s FA Cup opener against Millwall Lionesses.

"Every season I always say, ‘this is going to be the best season yet’, but I’m even more excited about this season"

“He’s got new ideas, a new philosophy and he’s managed in America,” the defender said. “He knows the standard that Arsenal Ladies have been at previously and the standard we need to be at now.

“It’s a really strong league and everyone wants that title but I really think this season, with the players he’s brought in, we can push on again.

“Every season I always say, ‘this is going to be the best season yet’, but I’m even more excited about this season. Every team in the league has star players, exciting players, and that makes it so interesting for the fans.

“With Lianne coming back into the team, we need our home-grown talent in the English league because that promotes it. I think that’s great when you look at other teams.

“There’s such parity now and that makes competition harder. You’re going into a game on a Saturday and you don’t know if you’re going to win. If you look at the end of last season when the title could have gone to three different teams, it’s so exciting and that’s what the fans want to see.”
