Togetherness was the key word for Joe Montemurro following our 2-1 loss to PSG on Saturday night.
The team were visibly distraught at the final whistle after failing to qualify for the semi-finals - but they fought until the end and their commitment couldn’t be faulted.
“This team always gives 100 per cent and obviously there was lots of emotions in there,” said Montemurro. “The players who didn’t start had a different type of emotion, and the players who did start did very, very well for us.
“I commend every single player for coming together and really showing a togetherness that really pleased me. I think despite the loss we grew as a team today because if we look at the couple of errors we made against a team like that and use it as a learning curve, watch out, because I think we took some giant steps forward.”
