Sunday’s match is no normal north London derby.
Not only is this weekend’s game an SSE FA Cup tie, but it also marks the first meeting between Arsenal Ladies and Tottenham for seven years.
When you factor in that the visitors arrive at Meadow Park having not lost any of their last 27 games, Sunday’s encounter is shaping up to be a fascinating clash.
But for Dan Carter, there’s an added edge as we begin our bid to retain the trophy.
“A few of their girls actually used to play in our academy,” Carter told Arsenal.com. “I personally know a few from my Leyton Orient days, so it’s going to be quite a nice reunion in a way for us.
“The ones I know are Bianca Baptiste and Riama Soobadoo, so I know that their families are coming, my family are coming. So that will be a nice Orient reunion for us all.
“It’s been a long time in pre-season now so to get going with games will be good for us and we’re all looking forward to it.
“I’m feeling good. I’m really raring to go and I just want to go and play some competitive games now. And who better to start against than Tottenham, as our arch rivals!
"With any game, we go into it to win and against Tottenham it’d be an extra special win if we can beat them in front of our own fans. "
