Manuela continued to cement her reputation between the posts last term, adapting to the many enforced changes to the back four throughout the season and performing admirably on the biggest stages, notably in the Continental Cup final victory over Chelsea and the 2-1 win at Manchester City on the penultimate weekend of the WSL season.
Long regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the WSL, Manu kept nine clean sheets in 2022/23, having won the WSL Golden Glove the previous season with 13. Known for her excellent reflexes and ability to play out from the back, Manu has always been a big-game player – she also excelled in the 2023 Continental Cup final and in the Gunners’ run to the Champions League semi-final that season.
The Austria international started her career in her homeland with SV Neulengbach at the age of 14 and joined Arsenal in May 2019 from Bayern Munich, where she won two Bundesliga titles during a five-year stay with the Bavarian giants. She made her 100th appearance in red and white in May 2023, soon after signing a new deal with the club, and has 93 caps for Austria, for whom she starred at Euro 2022.
