Sweden international Lina endured a second season of injury frustration in north London last term.
The flying winger looked lively at the start of the campaign, netting in the Champions League qualifier against her former club Linkoping and again in the WSL during the 6-2 win at Leicester City in November 2023 – a game in which the Gunners had trailed 2-0 at half-time and in which the Swede also hit the woodwork twice. She had scored those two goals in six appearances before suffering an injury while on international duty, and didn’t feature again last term.
There were echoes of her first season in north London when, having joined from Serie A champions Juventus in August 2022, she suffered a number of setbacks that limited her to just five starts and 14 appearances from the bench.
A title winner with Linkoping in her homeland, before lifting five trophies in two seasons in Italy, Lina has more than 70 caps for her country and was a key player in Sweden’s run to third place at the 2023 World Cup, converting the penalty in the shootout that eliminated the United States in the Round of 16. She was first called up at the age of 17 and made her debut in 2014.
