Arsenal has become the first Barclays Premier League club to reach five million followers on Twitter.
By breaking that barrier, the club has consolidated its position as the third most followed sports team in the world on the social network, behind Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The Gunners have taken just over five months to build from four million to five million by producing a consistent programme of engaging content for the fans. This has included regular Twitter Takeovers, a Vine video Q&A, matchday coverage, breaking news and infographics.
"We are delighted to have engaged so many passionate Arsenal fans around the world"
Managing editor of Arsenal Media Group, Richard Clarke said: “We are delighted to have engaged so many passionate Arsenal fans around the world.
"The interest in the club continues to grow and we constantly evolve our approach to keep our fans engaged with what is happening across every aspect of the club.
"We will continue to work hard to produce engaging content during the course of 2015."
