2023 Community Shield fixture finalised

The FA Community Shield

The Football Association have confirmed that we will face Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on Sunday, August 6.

The game will take place at its traditional home of Wembley Stadium, with a kick-off time of 5.30pm BST, and will be broadcast live in the UK on ITV.

As City completed a domestic league and cup double, we will be their opponents in the annual curtain raiser following our second-place finish in last season’s Premier League.

The contest against the freshly minted Champions League winners will be our 24th appearance in the competition, which has been in existence since 1908. We have claimed the Shield on 16 occasions, including the 1991 final when we shared the silverware with Tottenham Hotspur following a goalless draw.

We last triumphed in 2020 when as FA Cup holders, Mikel Arteta’s team defeated league champions Liverpool on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

Ticketing details will be announced in due course.
