Long-serving goalkeeper Manuela made fewer appearances in 2024/25 than in any of her five previous seasons bar one – when she rotated with Lydia Williams in 2020/21 – following the arrival of Daphne van Domselaar, so it was to her enormous credit that she performed admirably when called upon and vocally supported her colleague when not in the starting line-up. The Austrian international started the first five games of the season and made 18 appearances in total, keeping six clean sheets and featuring prominently in our run to the Women’s Champions League final, starting more than half of our 15 games in Europe.
Long regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the WSL, Manu won the WSL Golden Glove in 2021/22 with 13 clean sheets and is known as a big-game player, starring in our League Cup triumphs in 2023 and 2024.
She began her career at the age of 14 with SV Neulengbach and joined Arsenal in May 2019 from Bayern Munich, where she won two Bundesliga titles in five years with the Bavarian giants.
She made her 100th appearance in red and white in May 2023 and, having starred for Austria at Euro 2022, passed a century of caps last season.
