Interview

'We trust the process, everyone's following Mikel'

Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could not hide his delight on Sunday evening.

Our captain ended his run of five Premier League games without a goal by scoring the winner against Manchester United, helping us secure our first league win at Old Trafford since 2006.

Auba spoke to the media after the game. This is what he had to say:

on how big that win is...

Very big. It's been a very tough night but I'm really happy because the team played very well tonight. It's been a long time without a win here, so of course it's a big win.

on having control of the game...

Yes, definitely. At half-time we were concerned we hadn't scored but we knew that in the second half we had to score because we had some opportunists in the first half. We managed the first half well and then in the second half we managed to score. After that, everyone wanted to defend as a squad. We did that well and I'm happy.

on how he felt before the penalty...

I work a lot on penalties in training with Laca, so are pretty confident.

on big performances from Gabriel and Thomas Partey...

As I said, the team did a great job. I'm really happy with all the boys. Everyone was giving their best today and that's why we won.

on whether that changes the feel around our start to the season...

For sure. We knew since the beginning that we had to trust the process. Mikel is bringing something very nice and everyone wants to follow him.
