Following our victories over Rangers, Rosenborg and Hacken, our Gunners are officially back in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
We'll soon discover which teams we'll face in the group stage, when the draw takes place at 12pm (UK) on September 27 at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. It will be streamed live on UEFA.com.
Here is everything you need to know about this year’s competition, and who we could face over the next few months.
How does the tournament work?
Following two rounds of qualifying via either the league or champions path, twelve sides will now join Lyon, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and reigning champions Barcelona in the competition's group stage. These teams are divided into four groups.
Each team plays the other sides in its group twice - home and away - for a total of six group fixtures.
The top two from each group then progress to the quarter-finals in March 2025. All knockout fixtures are played over two legs until the final in Lisbon (May 2025).
We remain the only English side to have ever won the competition - back in 2008 when it was still known as the UEFA Women's Cup. We were agonisingly close to reaching the final again back in 2022/23, only to suffer an extra-time loss to Wolfsburg at Emirates Stadium.
Who might we face?
The 16 teams are divided evenly into four pots, based on their UEFA coefficient. Groups comprise of four teams, one from each of the following pots:
Pot 1: Barcelona (Spain), Bayern Munich (Germany), Chelsea (England), Lyon (France)
Pot 2: Arsenal (England), Manchester City (England), Real Madrid (Spain), Wolfsburg (Germany)
Pot 3: FC Twente (Netherlands), Juventus (Italy), Roma (Italy), St Polten (Austria)
Pot 4: Celtic (Scotland), Galatasaray (Turkey), Hammarby (Sweden), Valerenga (Norway)
Teams from the same country cannot be drawn into the same group, meaning that we will not face either Manchester City or Chelsea at this stage. Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg, Barcelona and Real Madrid, and Juventus and Roma cannot meet until the quarter-finals.
