It has been a difficult period for us of late but Kieran Tierney is convinced we will get it right.
Speaking after our 1-1 draw with Vitoria on Wednesday, the Scotland international discussed the match, conceding late goals, his adaption and more.
This is what he told the media:
on his emotions...
We knew it was going to be hard here with the conditions and how organised as a team they are. Until the last minute it is a good 1-0 victory away from home, but to concede late on again is not good enough and something we need to work on.
on the dressing room
Everybody is trying to stay positive, as positive as they can. We know there is a lot going on that people are talking about. But we just need to forget about all that and concentrate on us, concentrate on bouncing back and concentrate on giving the fans something to cheer about. In football it doesn’t always go your way, but we have got another chance on Saturday.
on the late goals
It is hard to say because if you knew what it was you wouldn’t let it happen. It is something we are going to need to work on as a team on the training field as well. It is something we will be looking to correct of course, but we are in a process and just getting there. For me coming in it is hard, but it is something we are all going to work on 100 per cent and we need to get out our game.
It is hard to say. If we knew what it was we would fix the problem. But it is something that we will be looking to correct. It happens. Teams have bad spells, they go through bad spells - but it just something we need to correct and that’s something we are looking to do.
on his own adaption
I feel comfortable. As I say at the end I was tiring, but I try and give 100 per cent. I don’t save myself for maybe the last 15 minutes. I have given my all and if I tire, I tire. Just near the end I was just a wee bit tiring, which is understandable from the load that I have done coming back and coming into Premier League games as well. It is hard.
on Unai Emery
It is up to us as players to correct it on the pitch. For me, [Emery] has been brilliant since I’ve come in. I have learned a lot. I am learning a lot every day, playing with great players. Everybody in the changing room has got belief in each other and the manager.
[I've learnt about] his style of play. He likes to keep the ball, pass the ball with a possession type game and for me I am just learning and working on my technique with him. I am working on passing and crossing - everything in general. I am working with the coaches as well, so just all round I am learning. Of course [it's making me better] and the players around me are making me a better player as well. I am just learning and I am enjoying every week
