Team News: Trossard returns against Brighton

Leandro Trossard applauds our supporters

After making a goalscoring impact from the bench against Aston Villa last week, Leandro Trossard makes his first start of the season against Brighton.

The Belgian winger comes in to face his former side, replacing Gabriel Martinelli. It’s the only change to the side that beat Villa last weekend. Deadline day signings Neto and Raheem Sterling were not registered in time to ve eligible today, while fellow new signing Mikel Merino picked up a shoulder injury in training this week.

21-year-old midfielder Salah-Eddine Oulad M’hand is on the bench, along with fellow youth team player Tommy Setford – the 18-year-old goalkeeper replaces Aaron Ramsdale in the matchday squad. Academy graduates Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are also among the substitutes.

The visitors make two changes to the side that beat Manchester United last weekend. Carlos Baleba comes in for the departed Billy Gilmour in midfield, while Bart Verbruggen replaces Jason Steele in goal. Former Gunner Danny Welbeck starts up front.
