Team news: Havertz starts, Odegaard misses out

Havertz returns to face Bournemouth

Mikel Arteta has made six changes to his side for tonightโ€™s game against Newcastle United.

The big news sees skipper Martin Odegaard miss out on a matchday squad for the first time since September 2022 against Brentford, as he is not fit enough for the game, with Kai Havertz taking his spot, and Jorginho once again donning the armband.

Having sat out the defeat to West Ham United on Wednesday, David Raya returns in goal, with Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli and Takehiro Tomiyasu also return to the team.

Ben White makes his 100th Arsenal appearance, while Eddie Nketiah will take to the field for the 100th time in the Premier League.

Having rotated heavily for their midweek League Cup win against Manchester United, Eddie Howe has reverted to the same team that drew 2-2 against Wolves in league action last Saturday.

That means Sean Longstaff, Joelinton and Anthony Gordon start for the second time this week, while former Gunner Joe Willock is named on the bench.

Newcastle: Pope, Tripper, Schar, Lascelles, Burn, Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton, Almiron, Gordon, Wilson.

Subs: Dubravka, Dummett, Krafth, Livramento, Hall, Murphy, Ritchie, Miley, Willock.

Arsenal: Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu, Jorginho, Rice, Havertz, Saka, Martinelli, Nketiah.

Subs: Ramsdale, Hein, Cedric, Kiwior, Zinchenko, Elneny, Vieira, Nelson, Trossard
