Saka nominated for August's PL Goal of the Month

Bukayo Saka celebrates scoring against Nottingham Forest

Bukayo Saka’s sensational strike against Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend of the season has been nominated for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month for August.

And you can help Bukayo clinch the accolade as their votes will go toward determining the winner of the division’s first award for the top strike of each month.

In what proved to be the winning goal, William Saliba won the ball back as Forest tried to play their way out of trouble after clearing a corner. The Frenchman played a one-two with Thomas Partey before laying the ball off to our attacker, who took a touch to nudge the ball into a yard of space and hold off the attention of Orel Mangala.

Then Bukayo wrapped his left foot around the ball from the edge of the area, and unleashed a fierce shot that flew into the top corner past the outstretched hands of former teammate Matt Turner, to start his season with a bang.

The England international’s excellent goal is one of eight up for the award. The other contenders are Jarrod Bowen’s drive for West Ham United against Bournemouth, Luis Diaz’s acrobatic effort to help Liverpool beat the Cherries, Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak’s neat dink against Aston Villa, and Gustavo Hamer’s thumper for Sheffield United against Forest.

There are also individual efforts from Kaoru Mitoma during Brighton’s win at Wolves, Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling slaloming through Luton Town’s defence and Brentford’s Kevin Schade's individual effort against Crystal Palace.

You have until Monday, September 11 at midday UK to cast your vote.

Vote for Bukayo now - and make sure you also have your say on who should win our club Goal of the Month award, with six great strikes to choose from.
