Alessia Russo and Amanda Ilestedt have both been nominated for the 2023 FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World XI.
Voted for by players, the annual awards highlight the best footballers in the current game, the 2023 award based on performances from August 1, 2022 to August 20, 2023.
After over 6,000 women’s footballers voted for their team of the year, Alessia and Amanda are among the 23 finalists.
After winning UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, Alessia was part of the Lionesses squad that reached the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in 2023, before she completed a move from Manchester United to Arsenal.
Amanda also joined us in the summer of 2023 after helping Paris Saint-Germain to a Coupe de France title and second-place in Division 1 Feminine. For Sweden, she scored her first four goals at the World Cup to become her country’s top scorer in the tournament.
Winners will be announced on Monday, January 15 at The Best FIFA Football Awards in London.
