Goal of the month

Rice wins February's Emirates Goal of the Month

Declan Rice scores against West Ham United

For the second time this season, Declan Rice has picked up our Emirates Goal of the Month award, this time for his stunning strike against West Ham United.

Our midfielder scooped over 50 per cent of the votes to clinch February's prize, following on from September's award which he won courtesy of his dramatic late winner to beat Manchester United.

In a bumper month for Gunners netbusters, Alessia Russo came second for her diving header against the Hammers, while Cloe Lacasse's pinpoint finish against London City Lionesses finished third.

However Rice's rocket dominated the vote with his strike also nominated for the Premier League's monthly accolade, and his fourth goal in our colours was a memorable one. The move began when Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli linked up on the right flank, and the Brazilian found Ben White who had slipped into the box.

He cut the ball back towards Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard who inadvertently got in each other’s way, but Declan lashed the loose ball first-time past a helpless Alphonse Areola from 25 yards, with the shot arcing away from his fingertips before it rippled the back of the net.

His goal against Sheffield United on Monday night took him up to five for us in the Premier League, which marks his best-ever haul in the top-flight.
