Ramsdale's super stop up for PL Save of the Month

Aaron Ramsdale celebrates during the win against Brentford

Aaron Ramsdale’s heroics in our 2-1 win against Brentford have seen him named on the shortlist for the Premier League Save of the Month.

Our keeper helped us to a huge three points against the Bees with a couple of decent saves, with one in particular catching the judges' eye and seeing him nominated for the monthly prize.

Having made a fine stop to prevent Ivan Toney scoring from 40 yards early in the second half of the contest at Emirates Stadium, the game remained finely poised at 1-1 when our England international came to the fore once again.

In the 71st minute, Kristoffer Ajer chipped a cross into the box where his defensive partner Nathan Collins had found some space, and the Welshman steered it goalwards with his head from just six yards out.

However, Aaron showed tremendous reactions to acrobatically tip the ball over his crossbar despite the shot coming at him from point-blank range, and that moment proved crucial as we went on to claim the three points through Kai Havertz’s late winner.

Our shot-stopper, who previously won the award in back-to-back months in March and April last year, is one of six contenders for March’s accolade, which includes his fellow opposite number in that game, Mark Flekken. Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels, Neto of Bournemouth, Burnley’s number one Arijanet Muric and Bart Verbruggen of Brighton are the other keepers nominated this time around.

You can vote for Aaron now until Monday, April 8 at midday, with supporters’ votes pooled with the selections of a panel to determine the top-drawer save.
