Our players react to their World Cup call-ups

Bukayo Saka celebrates scoring for England

With the World Cup squads being finalised on Monday, we now know that 10 of our players will be heading to Qatar this week, and there were plenty of celebrations on social media.

After a nervy wait to find out if they would be selected by the national teams, the following Gunners took to their various platforms to share their feelings with our supporters upon being chosen for the pinnacle of the international game.

Here is how they marked the occasion:

Bukayo Saka was excited to fulfil a childhood ambition of heading to a World Cup, as well as highlighting some of his favourite moments in an England shirt:

Having been a supporter for all the previous big international tournaments, Aaron Ramsdale can't wait to be part of the action this time around:

Gabriel Jesus was lost for words, simply tweeting "hello mum", "gratitude" and "going for six" - in reference to Brazil's ambition of adding to their previous five triumphs:

His compatriot Gabriel Martinelli meanwhile said: "Never give up your dreams. A proud moment for me and my family, as I have the chance to represent my country in a World Cup."

We got to see Matt Turner's reaction, as he was on a video call with the USA manager Gregg Berhalter. He said "I'm so excited, thank you for being the one to help me find myself as a player and person."

Takehiro Tomiyasu took to Instagram to share his delight, saying: "I am proud to be able to play as a Japanese national team player on the stage of the dreams of soccer boys all over the world. I will fight with all my might!"
