Nwaneri and Myles-Skelly out of U17s Euros

Myles Lewis-Skelly in action for England against the Netherlands

Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly saw their dreams of winning the U17 European Championship dashed after England lost 1-0 to France in the quarter-finals.

An 88th-minute penalty from Mathis Lambourde ultimately decided the game, as the defending champions advanced at the expense of the Young Lions.

Myles was withdrawn at half-time, while Ethan played the full 90 minutes but couldn't prevent his team from exiting the competition.

However, it’s not the end for the duo in Hungary, as on Tuesday they'll particulate in a play-off against Switzerland for a spot at the U17 World Cup later this year after qualifying as one of the two beaten quarter-finalists with the best record from the group stages.

England faced the Swiss last week in their final group game, which finished goalless.
