Jack Wilshere has underlined his determination to have a good pre-season - as he feels it will pay dividends in the long-term.

The England international has missed the past two pre-season campaigns due to a series of injuries, and he feels that has had a major impact on him.

Wilshere is back to full fitness now though and enjoying the Asia Tour, where the team are currently undergoing double training sessions in Nagoya.

"The older players always said to make sure I got a good pre-season now I’m a bit more experienced and have had a few injuries [I realise how important it is]"

“Sometimes we forget [when we’re on tour] that we are still in pre-season and no one likes pre-season, especially in this heat!” he told Arsenal.com. “But we just have to get on with it, we have a big season coming up and we need to get our fitness levels up.

“We also have Champions League qualifiers just around the corner and we know what we have to do. It is tough, and this weather doesn't help, but you need to roll your sleeves up and get on with it.

“The last two years I have missed pre season so to get one under my belt now will be really helpful. I played 25 minutes against Vietnam, so the next step will be to play 45 minutes and go on from there.

“I am feeling good and it is just down to getting the games under my belt and I’m sure the boss will give me them.

“As you get older you realise how important pre-season is. When you're younger you don’t look forward to it and moan about it.

“Hopefully I can get a full one in, and if I can do that and do my training like everyone else then I won’t be playing catch up.”
