Arsene Wenger says "intelligent" running is important in the modern game - not merely the distance covered.
The Arsenal manager will pit his wits against Jurgen Klopp for the second time in a fortnight on Wednesday and Wenger knows exactly what to expect from Borussia Dortmund - relentless pressing, a high tempo and lightning-quick counter-attacks.
Klopp believes that successful teams are the ones that cover the most ground and Wenger is partly in agreement.
"We look at it," he said. "The distances we run are important but it is not how much you run, it is where you run and how intelligently you run.
"Usually the teams who have the ball less run more.
"It [running] is important in the modern game, especially when you play against Dortmund, a team of high potential. It is important that your team raises their level to their maximum."
