Rachel Yankey has signed a new contract with Arsenal Ladies.
The 34-year-old forward first featured for the Gunners in 1996 and remains a key part of Shelley Kerr’s squad. Her pace and crossing abilities helped the Ladies to an FA Cup and Continental Cup double last term.
Yankey became England’s most-capped player in 2013 and was included on the New Year Honours list for a second time this month when she was awarded an OBE for services to women’s football.
General manager Vic Akers said: “It is great news Rachel has committed her future to the club. She remains a key part of the team and her ability and experience will be invaluable in the season ahead.”
Yankey added: “I’m very pleased to have agreed a new contract. As a lifelong Arsenal fan, I’ve always been incredibly proud to represent the Club, and it’s great to have the chance to continue to do so.”
