Amateur teams take to the Emirates turf

Emirates Stadium Pitch Events

Four amateur football teams were given the chance to play on the pitch at Emirates Stadium on Friday, May 3.

Oracle Components FC, North Acton FC and Flitwick Gooners FC beat more than a thousand other entries to secure their place alongside Time Out FC in the inaugural Emirates Time Out Cup, with Oracle Components FC taking the title.

The tournament was the once in a lifetime prize offered to amateur 11-a-side teams in a competition run by Emirates. As part of the prize, the teams were given exclusive access to all areas at Emirates Stadium, advice from FA coaches as well as post-match hospitality.

Having won all of their qualifying games, Oracle Components FC took on North Acton FC in the final and were declared the winners by FA official David Jarrett, who presented them with the inaugural Emirates Time Out Cup. In addition to lifting the Emirates Time Out Cup, the team from Harlow in Essex also won their own 13-seat Emirates hospitality box for an Arsenal home game in 2013/14.

Lee Hattersley, captain of Oracle Components FC, said: "We love our football and play every weekend in the Premier Division of the Hertford & District ORC Sports Mercury Football League. When we found out we’d won the competition we genuinely couldn’t believe it. We’ve had a fantastic day and can’t wait to show the trophy off at home as well as coming back in style to watch the pros in action from our own hospitality box!"

Laurie Berryman, Emirates vice president UK, said: "As a longstanding and proud supporter of Arsenal, Emirates has an incredible passion for football both in the UK and across the globe. We understand that teams like Oracle Components FC, North Acton FC and Flitwick Gooners FC are the lifeblood of this game and wanted to give them an experience they would never forget at Emirates Stadium."

Emirates has sponsored Arsenal since 2004 and renewed this partnership for a further five years in November 2012. Emirates currently operates 112 non-stop flights per week from the UK to its global network of over 130 destinations across six continents.
