Carl Jenkinson believes managerless Cardiff City will have a point to prove when they visit Emirates Stadium on New Year’s Day.
The Welsh club recently parted company with Malky Mackay and go into Wednesday’s game with one win in their last nine Premier League fixtures.
Despite that, Cardiff have taken points off both Manchester sides this season and Jenkinson is readying himself for a challenging start to 2014.
"You never know how a team is going to react when they are managerless"
“I’ve watched them play a couple of times this year and they look like a very decent side,” Jenkinson told the official matchday programme. “They are more than capable of competing in this league so we can’t take the game for granted because they’re a strong team.
"We’re thoroughly looking forward to the game but we’ve got to be prepared for a tough afternoon.
“You never know how a team is going to react when they are managerless. It’s a strange one to be honest because for some players it might motivate them, for others it will do the opposite.
“They will all have a point to prove to the new man, but we won’t read too much into their position, we have to focus on ourselves.”
