Gibbs - We proved a point in Dortmund

Kieran Gibbs believes Arsenal proved a major point with their 1-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

The Gunners became the first English side to beat Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Champions League after Aaron Ramsey’s second-half goal secured the points.

Arsene Wenger’s side had to soak up concerted pressure at times, and Gibbs hailed the team’s grit and guts in claiming the win.

"It is not an easy place to come to, not many teams can come here and get a result so we have to take that as a positive"

“It is massive - especially after the first game [at Emirates Stadium] - because we wanted to come here and prove something and we have done that,” he told Arsenal Player.

“We didn’t do it in style, but the way we won the game shows we have a certain character in the team now and it showed.

“It is not an easy place to come to, not many teams can come here and get a result so we have to take that as a positive. We have put ourselves into a strong position for the rest of the group, so it is important that we take advantage of that.

“This is still a big week for us, we have a big weekend coming up but the last two games have been massive tests and we have come through them. I think we can go into the [Manchester United game] positively and try to get another result.

“We want to prove to ourselves - not everyone else - that we can do it against the big teams. At the moment, we are doing that and we’re happy with each other
