Santi Cazorla has thanked the Arsenal fans for voting him their player of the season - and promised there is much more to come from him.
The Spain international had an outstanding campaign, netting 12 goals and claiming 14 assists while winning 55.7 per cent of the votes in the poll.
The 28-year-old was delighted have made such a positive impact, and believes the supporters played a major role in his success.
"From day one I have noticed a lot of kindness from them, from the people, the Club, from everyone at Arsenal"
“I’m really happy about it, especially as it was my first season in England and it was very positive,” Cazorla told Arsenal.com.
“The best thing about it is the fact the fans have voted for me, it makes me feel proud of my performances this season.
“From day one I have noticed a lot of kindness from them, from the people, the Club, from everyone at Arsenal. It was something that really surprised me when I first arrived.
“Next season I will try to perform as well as I have done this year, but also improve. I will be even more at ease, knowing my team-mates and enjoying the manager’s confidence, and I will be more use to the team.”
Cazorla believes Arsenal’s end to the season, which saw them claim fourth place after winning eight of their past 10 games, bodes well for the future.
“During the last few games the team played very well,” he said. “That is what we have to aim for next season, we need to be more consistent. It shows [how important it is] because this year we managed to get to fourth place."
