After assists against West Ham United and Manchester City, it was no surprise to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain named as our Vitality Player of the Month for April.
The England international adapted superbly to his new position at right wing-back and earned more than half the votes cast to edge Nacho Monreal into first place.
“It’s always nice when people recognise your form or if they’re supportive of how you’re doing, especially if you’re feeling good and you feel like you’re playing well,” Oxlade-Chamberlain told Arsenal Player.
“It’s always nice when the fans show support and recognition of that. It is a boost and when you win one award, you want to win it again. I know this might only be Vitality Player of the Month, but it gives you a boost and makes you think, ‘I need to win this in May now, I need to get every month’.
“It was a nice little achievement and it’s always really nice to see the fans appreciate the work you’ve put in. For me especially, with going to a new position, I’ve really tried to focus and work hard on doing the best job I can for the team.
“I’ve worked hard on that both tactically, looking off the pitch where I need to be, and then when I’m on it making sure I defend well, go forward and earn something going forward. When you’re working hard, it’s nice to see that people appreciate it.”
