'I'm happy.. part of the Arsenal family'

Olivier Giroud celebrated his ninth goal of the season by signing a new contract on Thursday.

The France international has been at the club since 2012, scoring 91 goals in competitive matches.

Ahead of the trip to Swansea, Olivier spoke about his new deal - and here is what he had to say:

on how easy the decision to renew was after a frustrating first half of the season…
Yes, it was a frustrating few months. But obviously we were talking about a new contract since the beginning of the year, so I am very happy to carry on this good adventure with the Arsenal family. That’s it, I am very delighted with the club, the boss and myself. I want to win even more trophies so hopefully it’s going to be this year.

on whether he shares the view that the boss’ future is important in contract negotiations…
Yes, obviously. I hope that he is going to stay. He built this club and I don’t think he will leave, we hope. So I wanted to [renew] and I think it was the moment for me to sign a new contract with the club and we’re going to hope that he signs himself as well and a couple of other players to the club as well.
