‘How I’ve helped Holding settle in'

Jack Wishere has revealed how he has been helping the “very northern" Rob Holding settle into life in London.

The centre-back had never been to the capital before signing for Arsenal in July but, with his team-mates’ help, Wilshere says the 20-year-old has adjusted to his new surroundings seamlessly.

“He’s a good lad,” the England midfielder told Arsenal Player. “He has come from somewhere I know quite well. I spent six months at Bolton and he has come from there, so we have got quite a lot in common.

"That sums him up really [that he had never been to London]. He is very northern! He comes from the same area as Danny Welbeck so him and Danny have become quite close as well.

“He’s only 20 years old and he’s come down from Bolton on his own, so he has to get used to living in London. That’s why I have been talking to him, to help him settle.

“We’ve had boys like that come here before in Calum and Alex, though. They’ve all settled in well and have improved as players as well as people. I’m sure he is one for the future and can improve his game this year.

“I think if you look on the pitch, he doesn’t look out of his comfort zone. He is a natural, he is confident on the ball and he wants to play and I think that is the Arsenal way. He is a great addition to the squad and one for the future as well."
