Arsenal in action at schools tournament

Premier League Schools Tournament

Youngsters from Gillespie Primary School and St Albans Girls School represented Arsenal in this year’s Premier League Schools Tournament at Everton’s Goodison Park on Thursday.

The Gunners’ mixed under-11s and girls’ under-13s teams both did themselves proud with some fine performances. A 5-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur by the under-13s was the result of the day.

The Premier League Schools Tournament is about increasing participation in football for boys and girls, and offers schools nationwide the chance to team up with their local Premier League club.

Each of the 20 Premier League clubs hosted their own local competition to select schools to represent them at the Final.

Over 14,000 young footballers from more than 1,700 schools took part in the tournament as a whole, with 320 taking to the pitch for the finals at Everton.
