Scott - How to approach a Wembley final

Alex Scott says Arsenal Ladies must enjoy the Women’s FA Cup final against Chelsea and not let the occasion get to them.

Saturday’s game will be just the second time that the showpiece has been staged at Wembley Stadium, after the Blues beat Notts County 1-0 in last season’s final.

Scott has played there for England and Great Britain before, and has advised Arsenal’s less experienced players to simply enjoy the occasion.

"When I was a young girl, I remember playing in a the football cage in east London and playing Wembley fives - you always dreamt of scoring a goal at Wembley"

“It is massive that the final is at Wembley,” the defender told Arsenal Player. “It has always been the showpiece event of women’s football, and to now have it at the home of football and attract the big crowd it deserves is massive for the game.

“When I was a young girl, I remember playing in a the football cage in east London and playing Wembley fives - you always dreamt of scoring a goal at Wembley.

“That was always the dream. To now make that come true and step out on to the pitch in an Arsenal shirt will be amazing.

“The girls [who have not played at Wembley before] really have to enjoy the occasion without worrying about the crowd who are watching and how big the event is.

“Just remember that you love playing football and you love playing football for Arsenal. Don’t let the occasion get to you. You have to show everyone what you are about.”
