Emirates Stadium played host to the semi-finals of the Premier League Enterprise Challenge this week.

Schools representing Premier League clubs from across the country were asked to think of ways to improve supporters’ matchday experiences, following a brief set by Premier League Executive Chairman Richard Scudamore.

The students then presented their plans to a special judging panel, which included Arsenal Ladies legends Faye White and Rachel Yankey, and TV presenter Ben Shephard.

St Mary Magdalene Academy in Islington represented Arsenal in the competition, and impressed with an idea for a fan festival where the visiting team’s local food would be served. West Ham and Norwich City earned places in the Enterprise Challenge Final later in the season.

Faye, who now oversees Arsenal Ladies’ marketing strategy, said: “The Premier League Enterprise Challenge is a great way to get young people thinking and excited about their future careers. Sport isn't always there for everyone to play professionally but it can be used to engage them and help them think about what they're going to do with their futures.”

The Enterprise Challenge is the highlight of Premier League Enterprise, a project which uses the hook of football to engage teenagers in business activities.

The scheme gives the opportunity for youngsters to develop their business skills by working with their local football club. Over the years, many clubs have adopted the ideas that their teams have come up with during the Enterprise Challenge.
