'We had ball but didn't create a lot'

Arsene Wenger spoke to Arsenal Media following his side's defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. This is what he had to say:

on a disappointing evening…

Of course, but we had double disappointmen because we lost two lead offensive players and after that I felt that they were not experienced enough. We were especially short in midfield. We had a lot of the ball but did not create a lot and Sheffield were sharper, brighter, more determined and in the end we lost on two set-pieces. It is always the same in football if you have the ball and you are not good enough to create you lose the game.

on Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott…

They are two muscular injuries, how big the damage is I don’t know because we have to wait 48 hours to check on the scan and see how big the damage is.

on the debuts he gave out…

They are young and it is a good process for them to see what kind of work they have to do because that’s the Championship, it’s not the Premier League.

on conceding against set-pieces…

We were prepared for that and we played recently well on set-pieces and I do believe with the experience at the back we have, it’s difficult to explain.

on playing Swansea…

The Premier League is our competition we want to focus on and ideally you want to win them all but we have to focus on the Premier League. We had six players at home, at least they didn’t get injured so we have to prepare well for Saturday.
