Chris Willock says Arsenal Under-19s produced an “all-round great performance” to beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 on Wednesday.
The England youth international scored a goal and assisted Ben Sheaf to give the Gunners a perfect start to this season’s Youth League.
However, despite his man-of-the-match performance, Willock was quick to praise the whole team's performance at Maksimir Stadium.
"It’s always good to get off to a good start and the team played very well. Hopefully we can carry this form into the next game"
“I thought we did very well and it was a good team performance,” he told Arsenal Player. “In the first half it was very tough because a lot of us were very tired but we stuck in to get the win. It was an all-round great performance.
“For the first goal I got the ball on the left-hand side, looked up and saw some space, so I thought I’d go for it. Then I got my shot off and luckily it went in so I was very pleased.
“For the second I beat my man on the left-hand side again. I was looking to the edge of the box to cut it back to Stephy [Mavididi]. I didn’t think it was on so I took my man on and he brought me down.
“I was happy because it’s always good to help the team going forward. I was pleased to get the penalty and I’m happy that Ben scored. It’s always good to get off to a good start and the team played very well. Hopefully we can carry this form into the next game.”
