Calling all local men aged between 30 and 65.
Would you like to get fit with Arsenal in the Community at the new Arsenal Hub, home of Arsenal in the Community at Emirates Stadium?
We need to find 100 local men to take part in a special project to improve men’s health. Our new project aims to recruit 100 Islington men to help boost their fitness with help of Arsenal in the Community.
Arsenal in the Community is taking part in a new EU-funded health project, ‘EuroFIT’, which will work with 15 football clubs from across the continent to encourage fans to take up healthier lifestyles.
As part of the scheme, groups of fans will be supported in a tailored fitness and lifestyle programme at the Arsenal Hub receiving tips about how to boost their exercise, sit down less and improve their diet.
Alan Sefton, Head of Arsenal in the Community said: “Participants will be fully supported during the 12-week period with guidance from qualified community coaches. We’re one of just five football clubs in the UK to be involved in this European-wide project and we’re excited to get started so we can begin the process that will encourage important health improvements in Arsenal supporters’ lives.”
The project is building on the successful ‘Football Fans in Training’ model which has run for three seasons in Scotland. The initiative seeks to encourage healthy weight loss and fitness that can be sustained over the long term.
In the 2010-11 season alone, 412 men taking part shed 2,300kg of weight and lost 2,400 cm from their collective waist measurements.
